I'm at home and the radio is on. It's tuned to 106.9 Silk FM. The news is on at the moment reporting how in the last year 30 out of every 100 homes in Manchester were robbed.

Part of life in this city is being streetwise and staying away from crime. Putting extra security locks on the stering whel of the car. Not parking on narrow streets where boy racers knock wing mirrors off or vandals roam. Avoiding street fights when walking back from a night out. Locking the doors of cars in certain areas where carjackings occur.

The police say fear of crime is worse than the amount of crime because the media hype it up. Although, over the last 6 months I've seen so much street crime, lots more than is reported.
